Iconoclastic me….

For the ones who detest word building or reading apart from what is required to survive, iconoclastic means the one who challenges established practices, traditions.

First love, first school, first car etc. incite some special feelings and so also the first blog. J
I would like to touch upon one of my favorite issues in this blog. ‘Save Forests, Save Mother Earth, Save Future’. The dwindling number of Tigers (National Pride) instigated me to bring out the turmoil of my mind onto this blog. Wanton cutting of forests and unrestrained build up of concrete jungles have provided fuel to fire. National Parks territories have been diminishing day by day. Rarest species found in forests are on the verge of extinction or it would not be an exaggeration to say, have became extinct. The natural habitat of these wonderful creations of GOD is being encroached upon by mankind.

I would like to mention few of the points that I feel would be a small step towards our herculean task. I have used “our herculean task” assuming that you all readers of the blog would certainly bolster the cause.

Control carbon footprint:
Short distance tasks could be undertaken on bicycle. The benefit for individual is richer than the support it would render to the cause of saving environment. School going children should be mandatorily sent in School buses. These buses should be phased out on completion of their life span. Office goers would certainly contribute major share by opting for Public transport, car pooling or non-gas guzzling vehicle i.e. bicycle. Congestion on road would reduce to a large extent and the requirement of ever increasing infra structure will be null and void. Government may introduce a rule for bringing vehicles on road for private transport like the one for Parking on odd days. Private vehicles with odd number number-plates shall be allowed on 3 working days of the week and even on rest 3 working days. This automatically ensures that there wont be many pleased to take their vehicles out on Sunday on account of heavy traffic J.
Vigilant Society
The NGO’s or the youth club willing to contribute to the cause should perform street-plays or conferences or road shows. Malls and multiplexes can be a good ground for such activities. Government should advertise and implement laws such as ‘One tree in the name of one dead family member’. In metropolitan cities shop keepers should be asked to plant and caress at least one tree. This will ensure we have pleasant walk even in scorching summer heat; a much more respite than we give to the environment.
Special Programs for tribal people
The communities or tribes that are responsible for poaching should be educated and brought to the same page as the modern day society. Government can employ programs similar to ‘Jawahar Rozgar Yojna’ for training these peoples. Education and literacy could unitedly form the Brahmastra that can emancipate the beloved Tigers from the shackles of poaching.
Fourth Estate
The eye catching news items depicting the plight of wild animals on news channels really present a sorrow state of affairs in our country. There have been instances of news reporters witnessing and capturing videos of troubled animal while the death knell is being rung for the victimized creature. Shouldn’t these so called responsible citizens of our country inform appropriate authorities and ensure safety of life for poor animal? The animals at times are infamously publicized during the news telecast as man-eaters. Aren’t we forcing these animals to leave their natural habitat and prey, by making them waifs? Shouldn’t these so called Samaritans be encouraging control over bludgeoning population?

Nice start to the blog. One idea which I like (but haven't seen implemented much) is to have an informal competition-like thing for some environmental issue. For example, I have heard that somewhere an electrical company started sending a comparison of your usage with your neighbours' with its bill, and people's usage dropped a lot.

Good one to open your blogging career. I like your idea of using bicycle. I think it's right time for the revival of companies like HERO/ATLAS. They should come up with marketing of new age bicycles to promote this cause.

Thats nicely written sir .. Keep up the good work .. Unfortunately this is the most discussed but still most ignored issue for Maharashtra Govt... Looking at the way they are responding to "Call of the Wild" ...

Pristine Wet lands of Uran are completely destroyed .. thanks to Proposed SEZ ..

Now its turn for Gandhari ... Pawas is on its way too

Tadoba remains mis managed due to lack of resources and staff ..

Day by day ... The land here is becoming a death bed of the nature, wildlife..
But what we see is just the black concrete Road ...

Unfortunately .. in this so called democracy .. only "Few" people can change the things .... and we all .. u me and every other amongst us is not the part of that "Few" ..

I guess only When Plants and Animals will get their right to vote .. only then their life will be spared .. only then they will get their right to live ..

isn't it ??
